Picard’s

The Picard’s Family Farm started introducing peanuts to Southwestern Ontario’s sandy soil in Norfolk Country in 1979. They were the first peanut grower in Canada and the first to process their own peanuts. Now, Picard’s has over 150 products focused on peanuts and an expanding confectionery product line. One of their most popular products is their unique potato chip covered peanuts (aptly called Chip Nuts) which is offered in all of their retail locations across Southwestern Ontario.

Picard’s wanted a new look for their Chip Nut product line. As part of the design team working on redesigning the packaging, I was tasked with creating new product illustrations for the front of pack. The brief focused on making sure the illustration look appetizing, hyper-realistic and easily recognizable as a peanut snack.

I started with pencil sketches which were then shown to the rest of the design team for critiques. Refined sketches were shared with the client. Once the client was happy with the sketch, I proceeded to the rendering stage. The most challenging aspect of the final rendering was getting the texture of the Chip Nut coating just right.
